What is Exosome?

什么是外泌体?

Exosomes are small extracellular vesicles that are naturally produced and released by various types of cells within the body.  It is nano-sized particles ranging from about 30-120nm, commonly found in our blood, urine, saliva, and other bodily fluids. They not only affect the microenvironment but also play a role in intercellular communication.

Exosomes can be isolated from bodily fluids or cultured cell supernatants, purified, and potentially utilized for therapeutic purposes in exosome-based therapies aimed at tissue repair, regenerative medicine, and disease treatment.

In recent years, exosomes treatment has become very important in the fields of regenerative medicine and hair growth. Many diseases that were considered irreversible have seen the light of day because of exosomes, such as the repair of the nervous system (e.g Alzheimer's disease, stroke, glaucoma, etc.), the repair of organs (e.g lungs, heart, kidneys, liver, etc.), and Anti-aging, skin elasticity, promoting hair growth, etc.

Nanoparticle tracking technology (NTA) is one of the method for visualization and analysis of exosomes. It is a highly sensitive method to measure the size  distribution (10~2,000nm) and quantity of particles  in liquid suspensions by leveraging light scattering and Brownian motion characteristics.
